Resolute Martial Arts & Fitness Supports Our Military & First Responders!
Read below to see what our amazing Military and First Responder clients have to say about their experiences with us.
Cody Jordan is by far one of the best instructors I have ever known, he is wonderful with my kids and does a great job keeping them engaged in a way where they have a tremendous amount of fun and learn crucial skills that will benefit them as they get older. I have also had the pleasure of training with him in Jiu Jitsu and his knowledge and expertise is far above his years in the disciplines he teaches. I can’t think of anyone better to teach in Oak Ridge for self-defense and combat sports. He is very passionate about his work and extremely knowledgeable. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with his program.

I’ve known Cody for almost a decade now and I’m really impressed with what he’s been able to do as a martial artist and business owner. This is the kind of guy you want to learn from! At Resolute you will find a great atmosphere to train while making great friends with some awesome people. If your goals are to compete or if you are just looking to get in shape; this is the place for you. I would recommend this gym to anyone looking to hit the mats!

Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness is essential for law enforcement. If it wasn’t for the tactics I have learned from training at Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness I probably wouldn’t be alive today. I work in a high crime area where I have had several encounters with violent criminals. Back in 2022, I encountered a criminal wanted for attempted murder. I was alone in the projects in the middle of the night but had to take action. A very violent fight endured where this suspect attempted to reach for a gun and later told me they intended on shooting me. I was able to take the suspect to the ground and restrain the suspect utilizing a leg sweep and triangle choke that I was taught at Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness. Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness teaches more than just self defense. You’ll learn discipline, how to stay calm in the most dangerous situations, and you’ll realize you are capable of so much more than you ever imagined. If you haven’t been to Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness you are missing out!

As a veteran of the Navy Intelligence community, a fellow entrepreneur and community builder, and a mental health worker, I have been incredibly impressed with the family atmosphere and culture of excellence at Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness. As one of Cody’s initial students, his growth and trajectory have been astonishing to watch, and his success is no coincidence. Cody and Resolute Martial Arts are successful because they are experts at what they do, they actively listen to feedback, and they always seek to add value for their community members.
Jiu Jitsu is an incredible mental health tool for anyone, but for veterans and first responders in particular. It provides an outlet to safely participate in simulated warfare while respecting the health and safety of your training partners. For some, it’s meditative and helps them achieve a flow state. For others, it’s a chance to release stored aggression in a respectful and controlled environment. Some people train to compete with others, but all of us train to compete with ourselves.
Regardless of your current fitness level or prior experience with martial arts, Cody and his team will help you feel welcomed and safe while developing your skillset in a way that can help you protect the people you love.
You will experience a caring community that comes together in times of need, and you will gain access to a host of mentors and peers who can help you develop yourself into the person you seek to become.
Hey y'all! My name's Lydia Martinez and I'm a Park Ranger for Tennessee State Parks. My daily duties include law enforcement, medical response, wildland firefighting, and backcountry search and rescue.
When I graduated from police academy in 2020, they strongly encouraged us to find a gym to regularly train defensive tactics in. I visited a few different gyms in the area that were all good, but Resolute stood out from them all. I was welcomed into a family/community environment where everyone cares for each other and is dedicated to seeing it's athletes improve. Their mix of evening and early morning classes are key for that hectic first responder work schedule.
I often have to work solo in remote backcountry and can find myself in dangerous situations with back-up hours away. Training BJJ regularly at Resolute has helped me gain the skills and confidence necessary to keep myself safe, while still effectively doing my job in a way that keeps the public safe.

Resolute Martial Arts & Fitness is the place to go if you want to sharpen your skills in many ways. Training here has allowed me to gain the skills necessary to survive and help others in need. It has sharpened my awareness to my surroundings, the ability to continue in uncomfortable situations, and to keep going and stand strong even after getting kicked in the face. I fully recommend picking Cody, and his gym, for training.

Hey guys, my name is Micaiah and I’m an AEMT with Anderson County. My job, at times, requires me to deal with all kinds of variable situations that can be very physically and emotionally demanding and dangerous for patients and providers. Although these situations rarely ever go “sideways”, it’s best (in my opinion) to be prepared for said possibilities. I’ve been a part of Resolute Martial Arts for a little over 2yrs now and the classes that Cody provides not only function as a practical self defense tool, but they’ll also give you a solid workout. The community that I’ve found here is second to none from any other gym that I’ve been to. So, if you’re a First Responder, or someone just wanting to start competing, wanting a different workout style, young or old, or just looking for good group of friends Resolute’s got a place for all.

I moved to Oak Ridge TN three years ago to start something new for myself. I've been interested in martial arts since I was a kid and being an Army veteran who served in Iraq. I called a few places in the area but no response. I saw a flyer for Resolute Martial Arts and Fitness. Gave them a call and heard a response very quickly. I've been training there for a year and a half. I've learned about other franchise martial arts places that lock you into contracts and really don't care about your growth. Coach Cody is there to teach and help you grow not only in martial arts but as a person. When he isn't teaching class, he becomes Spiderman and visits kids at hospitals to make their day better. I know he is a younger man than I but I strive to be as good of a person as he is in and outside of the mat.

I have been doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over 3 years now. I like to travel and visit many gyms while I am on the road for work. Other than my home gym, I found Resolute Martial Arts to be one of the gyms in the TN area. Cody Jordan does a wonderful job instructing and is a great sparring partner.
